Plot: A look at the relationship between pioneering 19th century French neurologist Dr. Jean-Martin Charcot and his star teenage patient, a kitchen maid who is left partially paralyzed after a seizure.
Alternative Plot: In 1885, Professor Charcot studies an illness that causes hysteria. He meets Augustine -- barely out of childhood -- and as he becomes obsessed with her, she tries harder and harder to seduce him.
