Plot: Under the direction of her boyfriend Brent Richter, Annie Grayson murders her husband Martin Grayson using a lethal injection of potassium chloride, the result which is a sudden and fatal heart attack. Annie ends her relationship with Brent after he uses most of the $250,000 life insurance moneys for his own benefit, and after she catches him cheating with another woman. Four years later, Annie, after taking the assumed name of Marianne Brown leaving the life of Annie Grayson behind her, has moved from California to Philadelphia, and married Richard Danforth, the junior partner in the family's development business owned by Richard's father, Donald Danforth. Because Marianne Danforth leads a life somewhat in the public eye, Brent ends up finding her. He is able to convince her to reassume their previous partnership in killing Richard. Marianne, however, injects her own ideas into the plan, some of those ideas of which she informs Brent, some not. One of those that she does share with him is that it makes sense to kill Donald first as the family fortune currently sits with him. As Marianne executes her collective plan with Brent with her own adjustments, what she is unaware of is that Richard's assistant, Carrie Hollings, doesn't trust her. Carrie is ultimately able to get Tia Montgomery, Danforth's Communications Director and Richard's personal friend, to have reason to mistrust Marianne as well. As Carrie and Tia individually look into Marianne's life more closely, they don't know that their lives would be in danger if Marianne and/or Brent found out what they are doing.
Alternative Plot: A con man convinces his married lover (Jamie Luner) to kill her husband for the insurance money, and his reckless spending drives her away.
