Plot: **SPOILERS** Gifted swimmer Michael Harding (Penn Badgely) returns for the summer from military academy, suspicious about his mother Susan's (Sela Ward's) live-in lover, widower David Harris (Dylan Walsh), who her sister Beth (Skyler Samuels) gets a job as real estate agent, but he dodges official paperwork. Michael's girlfriend Kelly Porter (Amber Heard) insists all that counts is David's promise to help him training in the high school pool and returning home for good. However, after David hard-handles kid brother Sean (Braeden Lemasters), Michael can't overlook holes in his stepfather's story and decides to investigate properly. He's right, Harris is a serial killer who moves state to state repeatedly after killing his idea of perfect family for proving to be less then perfect, and murders a nosy neighbor who recognized his picture on a wanted website, but keeps ahead of the Police.
Alternative Plot: When Michael Harding (Penn Badgley) returns home from military school, he discovers that his mother (Sela Ward) has a new man, named David (Dylan Walsh), in her life. Though David makes Michael's mother very happy, Michael cannot seem to shake feelings of distrust. He becomes increasingly suspicious of the man and wonders if the pleasant exterior hides a sinister side.
