Plot: A duel takes place in order to put an end to the long and bloody war between the Romans and the Albans. Three valiant brothers are chosen for each side. The Romans choose three brothers: the Orazi. The Albans are represented by the Curiazi. During the fierce and bloody final duel the Romans defeat their opponents.
Alternative Plot: After years of battle between their countries, the kings of Rome (Robert Keith) and Alba (Andrea Aurel) agree to let three brothers from each nation fight to the death to end the war. Taken hostage during combat, Horatius (Alan Ladd) escapes and returns to Rome to help his siblings fight against the Curiatii triplets of Alba. When Horatius' sister, Horatia (Jacqueline Derval), is kidnapped by enemy brother Curazio (Franco Fabrizi), she falls in love with him.
