Plot: After discovering a riddle on the head stone of Nicholas Flamel, Scarlett Marlowe and her team are lead deeper and deeper, though the nine rings of hell (Limbo, Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Anger, Heresy, Violence, Fraud, and Treachery as described by Dante's Inferno), below the streets of Paris by seemingly helpful ghosts. During their decent into the catacombs, the group eventually find a tomb filled with treasure (Greed), as well as the philosopher's stone, but the chamber collapses. They now find that the levels are the mirror of the previous levels. Eventually Scarlett realizes that the stolen stone itself is a sin, only by returning it will she find the real philosopher's stone, only to discover that the stone itself has no power only faith does. She then explains to George and Zed that the only way to escape this hell is to confess to their sins. At the final level, a manhole appears on the ground below. Jumping through the last ring of hell, gravity flips and the group finds themselves right side up on a street overlooking the Notre Dame.
Alternative Plot: Archaeologist Scarlett Marlowe (Perdita Weeks) has devoted her whole life to finding one of history's greatest treasures: Flamel's Philosopher's Stone. According to legend, the artifact can grant eternal life and turn any metal into gold. When she learns that the stone is hidden underground in the Catacombs of Paris, she assembles a crew to guide and document her historic mission. As they begin their descent, the team-members have no way of knowing that they are entering their own personal hell.
