Plot: For centuries, the blood-drenched feud between the sophisticated clan of Vampires and the feral race of lycanthropes, or the Lycans, has been kept secret; however, after the rise and fall of the all-powerful original vampire, Marcus Corvinus, in Underworld: Evolution (2006), humankind finally discovers the existence of both species. Now, as the bestial shape-shifters and the agile blood-suckers are on the brink of extinction, the former Death Dealer, Selene, reawakens from her cryogenic slumber, more than a decade later, only to find herself in a strange new world of heavily armed humans, where the few remaining pockets of both races have gone underground. Under those dire circumstances, and against the backdrop of systematic vampire/werewolf purges, Selene is in for a big surprise, as a feral hybrid holds the key to a well-orchestrated conspiracy. Can Selene avert the advent of an invincible super-breed?
Alternative Plot: In the years since she and her human-lycan lover, Michael, defeated Elder Marcus, vampire warrior Selene (Kate Beckinsale) has been taken captive by humans, while they wage an all-out war against both lycans and vampires. Awakening after more than a decade, Selene discovers that Michael is dead, but that she has given birth to his daughter, Eve. Shunned by nearly all surviving vampires, save one (Theo James), even Selene seems powerless against her latest opponent: a genetically enhanced lycan.
