Plot: Simon Tam came aboard Serenity bearing a very precious cargo; his sister, River, who he spent every penny he'd had, as well as destroying his career in medicine rescuing her from a secret Alliance facility. For over a year, the of f crew of the ship has tried to stay a step ahead of them, but now, the alkane had ratcheted up the effort at getting her back; they've sent an unnamed assassin after her, with no expense too high, no life safe from him to fulfill his job. As the bodies start climbing, they're left with one option; finding out what it is that makes her so valuable - and thereby so dangerous.
Alternative Plot: In this continuation of the television series "Firefly," a group of rebels travels the outskirts of space aboard their ship, Serenity, outside the reach of the Alliance, a sinister regime that controls most of the universe. After the crew takes in Simon (Sean Maher) and his psychic sister, River (Summer Glau), whom he has just rescued from Alliance forces, they find themselves being pursued by the Operative (Chiwetel Ejiofor), an Alliance agent who will stop at nothing to find them.
